Key Structural Engineer for the multiple award-winning 1,114-ft (340m), seven-span Allen Street Bridge replacement over the Cowlitz River and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, for the City of Kelso, Washington State, USA.
Analyzed the entire bridge for seismic loads; designed the W83G precast prestressed concrete girder superstructure in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD specifications; designed the piers and drilled shafts; performed structural engineering for the type, size, and location study, including design of a cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete box girder; performed value-engineering analysis and estimates; developed the final architectural concept for the piers and assisted with the design of the aesthetic features on piers, railings, and approach walls; and assisted with construction inspection during substructure construction and demolition of exiting piers.
The Allen Street Bridge was awarded the following awards:
